Each player possesses an army of 16 chess pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights, and eight pawns.
Pawn: Moves straight, captures diagonally, and can move two squares on the first move.
Knight: Moves in an "L" shape.
Bishop: Moves diagonally without square limits.
Rook: Moves horizontally or vertically without square limits.
Queen: Strong rook-bishop combination.
King: Moves one tile in any direction without checking.
